Mount Kessler was developed by mountain bikers fifteen years before the City of Fayetteville created Mount Kessler Regional Park. The mountain contains over 10 miles of trail. The trails zig zag the face of the mountain, so most trails are under two miles and it’s easy to pick up a new trail and add onto your hike or ride.
All trails are rated from easy to difficult. All hikers/bikers should expect soft surfaces, rocks, occasional tree roots and water crossings. Crazy Mary is an intermediate trail halfway up the mountain. Though it only stretches 1.7 miles, it must be accessed through other trails. Terrapin Station, Last Call, Chinkapin Oak and Trent Trail all lead to Crazy Mary from the trailhead at the park. A round trip hike is 4.6 miles.
Expect mid-size rocks with some rock features for bikers. Trails are clearly marked at junctions, but contain no markings once you’re on the trail. Carry a map or a smartphone if you’re worried about missing the trail. However, all trails meet on the outside edges of the mountain and either go up or down Mount Kessler. Mount Kessler offers fun, pleasant trails a few miles from Fayetteville.
